Environmental causes and institutional effects will be emphasized. Specific behavioral interventions will be presented.
  • Describe the behavioral manifestations of “psychiatric” disease.
  • Understand that difficult behaviors may be caused by unmet “physical needs”.
  • Appreciate the impact of the environment on the behaviors of the individuals.
  • Recognize behaviors as a means of communication.
  • Understand the importance of psychosocial interventions as an integral part of care of older adults.
